Most cases of colorectal cancer are diagnosed by the GP. One of the major challenges is that approximately half of the patients present with vague and non-specific symptoms which makes it difficult for the GP to detect the cancer in time. A stool test that reveals traces of blood can be a valuable diagnostic tool for detecting colorectal cancer in general practice. This is evident from the results of a new CaP study with researcher Jakob Søgaard Juul in the front.
Breast cancer can be detected at early stages through organised screening. This study explored reasons for non-participation in breast cancer screening among previous cancer patients, who have high risk of developing a new primary cancer.
CaP researchers have participated in a large international study on healthcare seeking. In a recent publication they describe the challenges and ambivalences the public face, when deciding when or how to seek medical advice.
Eight CaP researchers went to Groningen in Holland in April 2018 to elaborate on the latest research results. Linda Aagaard Rasmussen won the award for best oral presentation.
